it was just a normal wednesday at work for me, and lamar was home sick [he really is sick–he has bronchitis!] well, i was outside helping with carpool when i saw him pull in to the parking lot. i’m wondering, “what in the world is going on?” so i walk over to him and he simply says, “get in”. do you think i got in? no! i told him i had to catch up on work, but that we could go in about 30 minutes. well, he didn’t like that answer. he finally convinced me to just leave my work and told me it would be there tomorrow. i kind of like this idea, so i agree to leave. i ask him many times what he is up to, but he doesn’t give me any clue. i remind him that i have dinner plans with my sister, so whatever he has planned can’t talk very long. he replies that he already talked to her and she knows i won’t make it to dinner. my mind goes crazy at this point! it is finally clear to me that this surprise is bigger than ice cream. i hoped it wasn’t going to be too fancy of a surprise since it was casual day at school and i had a tshirt on. come on, lamar, if you’re gonna surprise me make sure i don’t wear a tshirt to school!
so, we get in his car and he turns on his gps and begins driving…for an hour! it was probably the longest hour of my life. at the beginning of the drive, i texted my family and best friends asking if they had a clue what lamar was up to. of course, they all played dumb and “had no idea”. he eventually took my phone away from me. smart man.
so, after an hour in the car, about 100 questions of “where are we going?”, and one chic-fil-a sandwich we finally arrive at…
now, it’s time to begin planning for our june wedding. can’t wait!
